Glamping with Nessie
If you’re into Glamping (glamorous camping) and are dead set on spotting Nessie at Loch Ness, then this retreat may be the perfect vacation for you! Located near Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness Glamping offers luxury, eco pod accomodation. The ‘Armadillas’ are cosy wooden shelters that come with a bathroom and benches which can be converted into beds. The B&B also serves an organic breakfast created from local produce, or alternatively, you can cook your own in the campsite.
The Armadillas are clad with larch, and resemble a boat that’s been turned on its head and cut through the middle. The interior of each model features seating that can be converted to a bed, an en-suite, a fridge, tea-making facilities (always a necessary), and an LCD TV with a DVD player.
Run by Sonia and Graham, the glamping accomodations are offered at hostel prices but provide more luxury and comfort than a tent (and most certainly a better nights sleep going by my own experiences). You can rent the Armadillas for £55 per night for two people, or £40 for a single person. The campsite serves as a base camp for a number of outdoor activities and adventures, such as hiking, biking, monster watching, castle touring skiing or snowboarding, rafting, caving, photography and stargazing.
