Brazilian Designers Vão Make the Most of this Small Loft Apartment
This bright and airy apartment renovation has been carried out by the Brazilian architecture studio Vão. The property is based i the neighborhood of Pinheiros in São Paulo, Brazil.
The project was completed in 2017 and has been dubbed Antônio Bicudo Apartment. The client requested that the apartment be rearranged so as to include a bedroom.
The designers managed to achieve the clients request with minimal disruption to the existing apartment – no demolition works were required. The project largely involved emptying the property and reallocating spaces in an open plan layout.
The unit has 538.19-square-feet (50-square-meters) to play with. Vão revised the apartment interior decor, opting for a much lighter and more contemporary finish to help keep the atmosphere bright and breezy. There aren’t a huge amount of window openings, but they’re more than sufficient when coupled with the white finishes.
Antônio Bicudo Apartment is set on the third level of a three story building. Being in the loft, it has some extra headroom it can take advantage of. Making use of the vertical space, the designers were able to introduce an “attic”/snug. It’s placed onto of the section containing the home’s bedroom and bathroom.
The majority of the plan is dedicated to the entrance (complete with a washing up area), living room, kitchen and dining area. The remainder is allocated to the bathroom and bedroom.
