A Tiny Modern Floating Cabin Powered By Photovoltaic’s

Are you running out of space in your home? If you are and you happen to live by a lake, maybe you should make like the Sandell brothers and add an extension… on the lake.

The two brothers enjoy the time they spend at their lake house (situated near Muskö, Sweden) but found it was starting to get a little cramped. Instead of adding an extension to their house, they hired the Swedish prefab cabin builder Kenjo to design and build a floating room on the lake.

The floating cabin has been built using locally sourced materials and features energy-efficient windows which help to minimise heat loss and a photovoltaic system to provide for the cabins electrical demand, namely LED lighting and a stereo system. It’s a relatively simply design and creates a space which is perfect for lounging, playing on the lake, or it can be used as an extra guest room.

  1. We live in a float cabin on Powell Lake, BC. We use solar and wind power for our simple electrical needs. Having a home on the water is a wonderful way to live. – Margy
