A Tiny House in Nada, Japan

This house in Nada, Japan designed by Fujiwarramuro Architetects, is just 680 square feet (63 square meters).  Located on a narrow lot in a downtown residential area, the house is sandwiched between two other existing homes.

The designers have employed a novel technique to take capitalise on the amount of light within the home; the first-to-third floor’s contain slatted openings that allow the light to filter from the roof skylights down through the main body of the home.

The home also contains voids, and openings throughout to maximise on the amount of perceived space.

Clad with in timber and contemporary in form, the house stands out in the neighbourhood without creating a ‘loud’ presence that overpowers the existing buildings.
